With ~200 employees distributed globally and no physical office, Speechify builds products across iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome, and Web platforms. You will lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed. Key responsibilities include: • Design and architect Windows desktop applications with a focus on performance, memory efficiency, responsive UI, and cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+). • Define and enforce best practices for Windows development across the codebase, including code architecture, maintainability, and quality standards. • Drive accessibility initiatives by integrating Windows accessibility APIs (UI Automation), ensuring keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, focus management, and inclusive design for users with disabilities. • Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and the Windows platform roadmap. • Own the full feature lifecycle: conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance. • Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems with robust architectural solutions. Required qualifications: 3+ years of Windows desktop application development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML; deep understanding of Windows application architecture and managed/native code interop; proven track record shipping production-quality desktop applications; strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs; solid software engineering fundamentals (OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading); experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, and conducting code reviews; excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; user-centric mindset. Preferred: automated UI testing experience, performance optimization expertise, localization/globalization knowledge, telemetry and crash reporting familiarity, CI/CD and release pipeline experience, demonstrated ownership of feature areas and technical debt management.
