Transmit Security is building the industry's leading platform combining customer identity management, identity verification, and fraud prevention for large consumer-facing businesses across banking, fintech, gaming, e-commerce, and more.
You will join a brand-new backend engineering team building a core component of the identity platform from the ground up. As one of the first engineers, you'll shape the architecture, engineering standards, and team culture rather than inherit them. This is a rare opportunity to have direct influence on technology choices and product direction from day one.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning features end-to-end: design, backend implementation, UI contribution, and production support
- Writing modular, testable, and secure code in a functional, strongly-typed Scala codebase
- Designing and building highly-available, latency-sensitive backend services that power critical infrastructure for major banks and retailers globally
- Contributing across the stack, including React/TypeScript frontend work
- Collaborating on scalable system architecture and data pipeline development
- Developing a platform serving hundreds of customers and billions of end-users worldwide
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years building production backend services at scale
- Strong architecture and design skills with proven ability to build scalable systems
- Deep expertise in at least one modern statically-typed language (Scala, Kotlin, Java, C#, C++, or Go); Scala experience is a significant advantage
- Comfort with functional programming concepts (immutability, algebraic data types, type-driven design, composition, pure functions)
- Willingness to work across the full stack, owning features from backend through React/TypeScript UI
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar) and production data modeling
- Cloud and container experience (AWS/GCP/Azure, Kubernetes, Docker)
- Independent, persistent, results-oriented mindset with excellent collaboration skills
