PPRO is a global payments platform that enables major companies like PayPal, Stripe, and Microsoft to access local payment methods and connect with billions of consumers worldwide. The company operates across 10+ global locations with 50+ nationalities and is targeting 3x growth by 2028.
As a Senior Software Engineer in Risk Management, you will be a key technical contributor responsible for owning products and services end-to-end, including both backend and UI components. You will architect solutions that transform risk into products, such as PPRO's customer-facing disputes and chargebacks platform. This role involves solving complex technical problems, participating in architectural and technical direction decisions, and mentoring other engineers while working alongside them in the codebase.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning products and services end-to-end (backend and UI), architecting solutions for disputes and chargebacks platforms
- Collaborating in a dynamic, autonomous environment to define boundaries in disputes and chargebacks across payment methods
- Contributing to team culture and ways of working, including agile methodologies, pair programming, and mob programming
- Using latest technologies to solve problems at massive scale for customers
- Taking full operational responsibility for owned services, ensuring security compliance (GDPR) and participating in on-call rotations
- Sharing knowledge and building creative solutions while helping the team evolve best practices
The role is hybrid with an expectation of 3 days per week on-site in Berlin. REQUIREMENTS:
- Multiple years of experience working with Java and Spring Boot
- Experience designing and building scalable products and services
- Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)
- Experience or strong interest in disputes or chargebacks domain
- Comfortable making UI changes in React; full-stack experience is desirable
- Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to articulate technical tradeoffs to diverse audiences
- Working proficiency in English
- Results-oriented, collaborative, pragmatic mindset with continuous improvement focus
