Salary: USD 160,000 - 200,000 / annual
Lithic is a modern card issuing and processing platform that powers card programs for 100+ innovative financial companies including Mercury, Flex, and Novo. The company provides developer-friendly APIs and infrastructure that enable clients to launch and scale card programs in weeks rather than years.
The Product Platform team owns the foundational API layer that all other Lithic products build upon. The team's mission is to make Lithic's API the best in fintech—reliable, consistent, and a joy to integrate with. This includes ownership of the API Gateway, Events Platform, API key management and authorization, audit logging, and API norms and versioning strategy.
As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you will write reliable, secure, and scalable code with minimal tech debt. You'll improve system reliability within the team's scope and participate in on-call rotation. You'll own projects end-to-end from planning through launch, spanning areas like API key management, reliability, audit logging, and search. You'll keep stakeholders informed and aligned throughout the development process and lead efforts to improve systems and processes within the team.
The ideal candidate has 4+ years building production backend systems, ideally including public-facing APIs at scale. Experience with or willingness to learn Rust is important, along with the ability to understand systems written in Python and Java. You should have strong API design fundamentals and product thinking around versioning, backward compatibility, schema-driven development, and customer-centric tradeoffs. You're comfortable designing systems from scratch and owning the full product development process end-to-end. Strong written communication skills and experience working in remote, async-first teams across time zones are essential. Interest in leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity and the ability to navigate ambiguity while aligning diverse perspectives are valued.
