You'll join the Product Experiences team, responsible for building the core features users interact with daily across the Peregrine platform. This team collaborates closely with design and product management to ship fast, intuitive, and trustworthy experiences that turn massive datasets into actionable intelligence for investigators and analysts.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll own large portions of the user-facing platform end-to-end, including Search, Dossier, Charts, Dashboards, Maps, Network, Table, Workspace, Docs, Automations, and Mobile. You'll tackle visible, high-impact challenges: building semantic search across billions of records, designing entity dossier views that assemble complete pictures on demand, and crafting real-time collaborative experiences on maps and networks. You'll integrate AI-powered capabilities while maintaining source transparency and trust, obsessing over latency, interaction design, and resilience to make complex workflows feel effortless.
The technical stack includes React, Redux, TypeScript, and Mapbox on the frontend; Python, Django, Celery, Airflow, and Kafka on the backend; PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch for data; ML models in Bedrock and SageMaker; and AWS, Pulumi, Terraform, and Kubernetes for infrastructure.
You'll thrive on ambiguity, own hard problems, and bring strong technical vision to synthesize product requests into reliable software components. The team values empathy, humility, collaboration, and perseverance. You'll work closely with deployment teams and users to iterate and solve real problems. The role requires 5+ years of cross-functional software development experience, strong frontend fundamentals with full-stack capability, and expertise in shipping production-grade, user-facing software. You'll be based in Washington, D.C. or San Francisco, working in-office 4 days per week.
