Salary: CAD 136,000 - 187,000 / annual
Okta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Privileged Access Management (PAM) team in Toronto. PAM is an identity-centric platform built on Zero Trust architecture designed for modern cloud environments, helping enterprises solve critical security and operations challenges at scale.
You will work with a high-performing team on a modern tech stack (Kubernetes/EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, Kinesis, Redis, OpenSearch, Docker, Terraform on AWS) with a weekly release cycle and individual ownership of projects. The role emphasizes leveraging AI pair-programmers and LLMs (Copilot, Claude) to accelerate secure, enterprise-grade product development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and deliver cloud-based infrastructure projects using modern AWS services and Kubernetes
- Drive evaluation, development, and rollout of microservices
- Operate, support, and upgrade shared services and frameworks as they scale with business growth
- Lead design and code reviews to ensure systems are scalable, redundant, and multi-tenant
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and fix services; evaluate performance and resolve bottlenecks
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers
- Collaborate with architects, QA, product owners, security, and operations engineers

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years of extensive programming experience in modern languages (Go, Java, or C++), with Go preferred
- Proven track record architecting, deploying, and optimizing scalable cloud infrastructure with deep hands-on expertise in Kubernetes and AWS container environments
- Solid technical grasp of architecting, implementing, tuning, and debugging large-scale cloud deployments in enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, Observability, Secrets Management, CI/CD pipelines, secure coding practices, and compliance
- Deep understanding of REST APIs with proven experience building and integrating them
- Experience with AWS, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Kinesis, Kafka, and Docker
- Knowledge of network security, authentication, and authorization
- Demonstrated adherence to software engineering best practices
- Familiarity with Agile software development processes
