Join MTS (Managed Trading Services), Sportradar's real-time risk betting management platform that processes millions of bets globally. You'll design, build, test, and ship backend services and APIs as part of a high-throughput, low-latency system serving operators worldwide.
The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership: you'll deliver work in small, independently shippable increments, own your changes in production (including monitoring, alerting, and on-call participation), and learn how services behave under real load. You'll work with product managers and senior engineers to translate requirements into well-shaped, deliverable work, write clean and well-tested code, participate in code review, and help document key architectural decisions.
The tech stack is modern and cloud-native: Java (Spring Boot / Quarkus), Kafka / MSK, gRPC & Protobuf, AWS (EKS, ECS, DynamoDB, Aurora), ArgoCD / GitOps, Terraform, and observability via Grafana, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry. Sportradar is a global sports technology leader serving 1,700+ sports federations, media outlets, betting operators, and consumer platforms across 120 countries. Engineering offices span Europe, Asia, and the US. **Requirements:**
- 2+ years of professional experience with Java (Spring Boot, Hibernate, or similar modern OO frameworks) or another strong object-oriented language
- Good grasp of computer science fundamentals and ability to write clean, testable code
- Solid understanding of automated testing (unit, integration, API testing using JUnit, Mockito, or similar)
- Comfortable with CI/CD and collaborative git workflows
- Experience with AI-assisted, spec-driven development as part of day-to-day workflow, not just autocomplete
- Willingness to run what you build—owning changes in production including deployment, monitoring, and on-call participation
**Nice-to-have:**
- Exposure to AWS, Kafka, Docker / Kubernetes, or relational and NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with gRPC / protobuf, REST API design, or event-driven systems
- Interest in IaC (Terraform), GitOps, or observability tooling
- Interest in betting, trading, or other real-time / high-throughput domains
