ARQ is a fast-growing fintech building cross-border payment infrastructure and financial services. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, high-performing backend systems powering the company's innovative products. You'll collaborate with a talented team to create solutions that drive financial inclusion and transform how people manage money globally.
You will focus on greenfield development and improvement of existing systems. Projects include building REST APIs, engineering microservices, and evolving critical business systems such as card payments, treasury management, transactions booking, and crypto liquidity. The technology stack is predominantly Java 25 on the backend with Postgres databases, using Spring Boot for rapid and quality delivery. The team emphasizes clean code, maintainability, test-driven development (TDD), domain-driven design (DDD), and continuous integration & delivery.
The role is hybrid, requiring 3–4 days per week in the Krakow office. You'll have access to the latest tools and technology, competitive compensation including stock options, discretionary performance bonuses, and the opportunity to help build a leading fintech app serving Latin America.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrable experience in backend development with fluency in Java
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or other Engineering/Science disciplines
- Quick learner with ambitious, results-driven personality and excellent communication skills (English fluency, verbal and written)
- Track record of building complex products used by millions in hypergrowth startups
