In this Senior Backend Engineer role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing backend systems powering ARQ's innovative products. You'll collaborate with a talented team on both greenfield development and improvements to existing systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building REST APIs and engineering microservices
- Evolving critical business systems including card payments, treasury management, transactions booking, and crypto liquidity
- Writing clean, maintainable code with emphasis on test-driven development (TDD) and domain-driven design (DDD)
- Contributing to continuous integration and delivery practices
- Working with a pragmatic, results-driven approach to product development
The technology stack is predominantly Java 25 on the backend with Postgres databases and Spring Boot for rapid, quality delivery.
Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience in backend development with fluency in Java
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related Engineering/Science discipline
- Quick learner with ambitious, results-driven personality
- Excellent communication skills (English fluency, verbal and written)
- Track record of building complex products used by millions in hypergrowth startups
Workplace: 3-4 days per week in-office in London.
