StarTree is building the world's most comprehensive real-time analytics platform, founded by the creators of Apache Pinot. The company powers hundreds of user-facing applications at scale for companies like LinkedIn, Uber, Target, Walmart, Stripe, and Dialpad. The Cloud Platform team builds and operates StarTree Cloud—a resilient, auto-scaling managed service that runs hundreds of fully automated Pinot clusters in production. The team manages SaaS, BYOC, and BYOK deployments across AWS, GCP, and Azure using a single control plane. This is a lean, fast-paced team working with state-of-the-art technology to solve complex challenges at scale. In this role, you will own end-to-end development of features in the cloud control plane and data plane platform services, from idea through production launch. You'll manage substantial Kubernetes workloads spanning all major cloud providers and collaborate with strong engineering and partner teams to deliver scalable solutions for customers. You'll also mentor and grow engineers while learning from experienced engineers around you. You should have strong software engineering fundamentals and proven experience solving distributed systems problems at scale. The services are primarily written in Go or Java, with Go experience preferred but not required. You need hands-on experience building cloud-based deployments with working knowledge of container orchestration and infrastructure-as-code (Kubernetes, Terraform, etc.). The ideal candidate is adaptable and versatile, comfortable taking on whatever matters most for the company while adjusting to changing business priorities. You should be curious, positive, and resilient—comfortable navigating ambiguity while maintaining a constructive, problem-solving mindset. An AI-first mindset is valued, with comfort developing with AI tools and eagerness to continuously learn and integrate AI into engineering processes. Open source contributions or blog posts are a plus.
