Commure is building an AI Operating System for healthcare, addressing the $1 trillion administrative burden in the industry. The company's platform spans ambient AI documentation, intelligent agents for workflow automation, and autonomous revenue cycle management (RCM) processing billions in claims annually. With 500,000+ clinicians across 500+ healthcare organizations using the platform to handle $25B+ in annual claims, Commure has raised $70M at a $7B valuation and was named to Fortune's Future 50 list.
You'll join the Air Billing team, responsible for the highest-traffic surfaces in the practice management product: claims, appointments, and payments posting. These are fast, data-dense, keyboard-driven workflows handling millions of claims built on real healthcare plumbing (EDI transactions, payer automations). The team is mid-way through a generational rebuild of these surfaces, with significant work ahead: rebuilding the claims workspace, making bulk operations safe over tens of thousands of records, creating a unified claim activity timeline, and deploying AI where billers experience the most friction.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll own end-to-end features across this work and see them deployed to billers in production within days. You'll work in a small, tight-knit team that ships fast, reviews work closely, and sits adjacent to billing operators, giving you immediate visibility into feature impact.
Key responsibilities include: owning features end-to-end from design through production rollout on claims, appointments, and payments-posting surfaces; writing production-ready code with meaningful tests and observability; partnering with product, design, and billing operations to solve real workflow problems; building reliability and observability into features with dashboards, logging, and alerting; reviewing code and designs for correctness and performance on data-dense screens; and helping set technical standards and direction as the team scales.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years building full-stack applications with a track record of shipping features end-to-end in production
- Solid frontend skills: building clean, maintainable UIs and diagnosing/fixing rendering issues in data-dense screens
- API and data-layer fundamentals: building backend endpoints handling filtering and pagination over sizable datasets, reasoning about underlying queries
- Sound technical judgment for feature-level work: evaluating tradeoffs, escalating risks, avoiding over-engineering
- Good debugging and observability instincts: comfortable with monitoring, logging, and alerting
- Clear communication: keeping teammates and partners informed, asking questions early
- Ownership mindset and bias for action: taking responsibility for features with urgency and customer focus
NICE TO HAVE:
- Familiarity with healthcare billing data (EDI X12 standards: 270/271, 276/277, 835, 837; clearinghouses; ERAs/EOBs; denial codes) or demonstrated ability to ramp on complex domains quickly
- Experience shipping LLM-powered features into production workflows (not just demos)
- Exposure to analytical/OLAP stores alongside transactional databases
- Strong product intuition and track record of influencing UX/UI decisions to improve usability
- Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, finance, insurance) with attention to security and compliance
