Fictiv, a division of MISUMI Group, is reimagining manufacturing through AI-first innovation. The AI Innovation Team operates as an internal startup, discovering and scaling entirely new product capabilities across Fictiv and MISUMI. This role is a Senior Software Engineer position focused on early-stage AI product development. You will work on discovering high-leverage AI opportunities across manufacturing and supply chain workflows, building rapid prototypes using real company data, and developing LLM-powered systems. Key responsibilities include collaborating directly with customers and internal stakeholders to validate use cases, transforming validated concepts into scalable production systems, and exploring emerging AI models and frameworks. The role requires 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong production experience building LLM-based applications. You should be proficient in TypeScript/JavaScript and AWS, with hands-on expertise in prompt design, LLM evaluation methodologies, guardrails, and reliability patterns for AI systems. A track record of designing experiments and using data to validate technical decisions is essential. You'll report to the Director of Engineering, AI, and work in an environment that values rapid iteration, real-world feedback, and solving genuine business problems. The team emphasizes builder mentality, ownership, comfort with ambiguity, and evidence-driven decision-making. Nice-to-have skills include end-to-end AI product experience, familiarity with multiple languages and architectures, and experience with large unstructured datasets. The position is full-time, onsite in Oakland (HQ), with minimal travel (0–10%). Compensation ranges from $160,000–$200,000 depending on experience, with comprehensive benefits including medical/dental coverage, 401(k), and generous PTO.
