Vasco is building a revenue context layer for AI agents. The company structures CRM, billing, calls, and support data into a semantic layer where every metric is sourced, every definition is locked, and every answer is deterministic. The product powers agents that automate manual busywork for revenue teams.
As a Senior Software Developer at Vasco, you will join a small team of product designers and engineers reporting to the CTO. Your focus will be building the backend of the product, with opportunities to work on core surfaces like the context, metrics, and plan engines that power the agents. You will help shape solutions and carry them through implementation to release.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and ship backend services powering Vasco's product, with opportunities to work on context, metrics, and plan engines, and to venture into fullstack or data engineering work based on your abilities
- Build services that handle customer revenue data safely, ensuring the product's promise of trustworthy data
- Shape solutions with product designers and engineers using the Shape Up process, then own work from shaping through implementation to release
- Work day-to-day with product designers and GTM team members, bringing their context into what you build
- Contribute to how the team builds product and generates code with Claude Code, including building coding harnesses
- Participate in incident response for the systems you operate, keeping the product reliable for customers

This position is hybrid in Montreal—three days in-person per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) at WeWork Place Ville-Marie in downtown Montreal.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Product-minded builder: you've built to solve customer problems first and foremost, with technical decisions tracing back to them
- Autonomous ownership: you've owned complex projects end-to-end and acted as your own project manager (scoping, sequencing, unblocking, stakeholder alignment)
- Backend depth: you've designed, built, and operated production backend services end-to-end and owned the outcomes they produced
- AI fluency: you've made AI coding tools part of how you ship real work and can distinguish where they raise quality and where they don't
- Bias for action: you'd rather ship a working slice now than a complete thing later, and you're willing to try wild ideas
- High-stakes judgment: you've applied judgment in high-stakes situations where the cost of being wrong was real, and can walk through how you decided
- Systems thinking: you've designed solutions that address root causes and prevent downstream issues, treating architecture as one integrated system
- Shaping instinct: you can take a loosely defined problem, weigh scope against appetite, and turn it into a solution the team can build
- Communication clarity: you can turn technical trade-offs into clear business impact for any audience, from developers to cofounders
Differentiators that will make you stand out:
- Experience building data or context layers that AI agents consume in production
- Data engineering or DevOps range (SQL, data modeling, pipelines, infrastructure, CI/CD, observability)
- Fullstack range with shipped application work across the stack, including frontend
- Experience with GCP, BigQuery, Node.js, TypeScript, Terraform, or equivalent cloud tools
- Experience with semantic layers or BI tools (they use Cube)
