ixigo is a leading online travel agency (OTA) in India, founded in 2007, serving over 54 crore annual active users. The company empowers Indian travelers to plan, book, and manage trips across rail, air, buses, and hotels using proprietary AI algorithms and crowd-sourced information.
As a Senior Software Developer - Backend, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and scaling core product features for ixigo's travel platform. You will take ownership of modules end-to-end, from design through development, testing, deployment, and production support. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that serve millions of users.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend systems
- Own modules end-to-end including architecture, implementation, testing, and deployment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build impactful product features
- Write high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code following design patterns
- Drive performance improvements and system stability
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical decisions
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies and tools to improve engineering practices
You will mentor engineers, guide junior developers, and contribute to improving engineering practices across the team. This is a high-growth environment where you'll work on systems serving millions of travelers.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3–6 years of software development experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Strong experience with Java/J2EE technologies
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design
- Experience building scalable and distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with relational databases (MySQL/Postgres)
- Experience with MongoDB, Web Services, and microservices architecture
- Strong understanding of design patterns and scalable architecture
- Experience with performance optimization and debugging tools
- Good knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and memory management
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Experience in product-based companies, internet companies, or startups preferred
- Experience in e-commerce or travel domain is a plus
