Parasail is building an enterprise-grade inference cloud for open-weight models, delivering fast, reliable, and economical inference at scale. Behind a single OpenAI-compatible API, the company pools GPU capacity from providers worldwide and continuously optimizes workload placement. With $32M in Series A funding, Parasail is scaling beyond trillions of tokens per day.
You will build and lead Parasail's engineering presence in Europe as Engineering Site Lead. This is a hands-on leadership role combining team building, technical strategy, and direct engineering contribution. You'll recruit and develop a strong engineering team, establish how the European site operates, and take ownership of critical infrastructure behind the global inference cloud.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building the European engineering team by recruiting, hiring, and developing engineers with expertise in infrastructure, distributed systems, and production reliability
- Translating company priorities into a focused roadmap, making sound technical tradeoffs, and guiding work from design through production
- Contributing directly to architecture, reviewing designs and code, and working on the most important technical problems
- Leading improvements to Kubernetes infrastructure for provisioning, networking, storage, and deployment across multiple providers and regions
- Establishing reliability as a team responsibility through better isolation, failover, observability, and recovery mechanisms
- Building software and automation to reduce manual infrastructure work and make changes safer
- Establishing clear ownership, documentation, and effective handoffs for cross-timezone collaboration
- Shaping engineering culture by setting high standards for technical quality, accountability, and collaboration while enabling engineer growth and decision-making
You'll work directly with engineering leadership and infrastructure, platform, and inference engineers across regions, giving the European team clear ownership while connecting its work to company priorities.
Requirements:
- Experience leading engineering teams responsible for production infrastructure or distributed systems
- Track record of hiring and developing strong engineers, setting priorities, and delivering meaningful technical outcomes
- Technical depth to guide architecture, challenge assumptions, and contribute directly when needed
- Real ownership of production service performance and reliability
- Strong Linux fundamentals and practical knowledge of networking, storage, containers, and Kubernetes
- Ability to write maintainable software and automation for infrastructure problems
- Systematic approach to debugging problems across application, cluster, network, and hardware boundaries
- Good judgment about when to move quickly, simplify, or prioritize reliability
- Clear communication and experience working effectively across teams and time zones
- Background as an engineering manager close to technology, a technical lead with team-building experience, or an infrastructure leader ready to establish a new site
Nice to have:
- Experience establishing or growing an engineering office or regional team
- Experience with multi-region, multi-provider, or bare-metal infrastructure
- Familiarity with GPUs, model serving, or inference systems (vLLM, SGLang)
- Experience building highly available services, multi-tenant platforms, or distributed data systems
- Experience leading teams through rapid growth while maintaining technical quality and sustainable operations
