The company has scaled to $200M+ ARR and operates teams across Europe, North America, and APAC. You will lead and develop Legora's Legal Engineering capability in Japan, based in Tokyo. This is a dual-track role combining team leadership with hands-on customer delivery. LEAD AND DEVELOP LEGAL ENGINEERING IN JAPAN - Define priorities, ways of working, and standards for customer delivery - Recruit, coach, and develop Legal Engineers with strong legal expertise, product fluency, and customer judgment - Create repeatable approaches to discovery, pilots, workflow design, training, and adoption - Collaborate with global Legal Engineering leadership to exchange best practices LEAD STRATEGIC CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENTS - Build trusted relationships with general counsel, innovation leaders, and senior stakeholders at law firms and corporate legal departments - Personally lead key engagements from discovery through implementation and adoption - Help customers redesign legal workflows, assess AI output quality, and establish human review processes - Define success metrics and demonstrate measurable improvements in quality, speed, and efficiency SHAPE LEGORA'S APPROACH TO THE JAPANESE MARKET - Partner with Sales and customer engagement teams on pilots and complex opportunities - Ensure customer insights inform product development through collaboration with Product and Engineering - Represent Legora in customer workshops and industry discussions - Balance immediate customer needs with long-term capability development REQUIREMENTS - Substantial experience in the legal sector, including law firm experience and strong knowledge of legal practice, workflows, and client expectations - Experience delivering legal technology or AI transformation initiatives, with evidence of moving from experimentation to sustained adoption - Track record of leading people and complex initiatives, with ability to recruit, coach, and develop high-performing teams - Credibility to advise senior legal professionals and practical skills to lead workshops, demonstrate products, and work through detailed use cases - Strong commercial judgment and understanding of how customer outcomes support business growth - Ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear priorities and executable plans - Business-level English proficiency for effective collaboration with global colleagues and stakeholders - Commitment to being based in Tokyo - Legal qualification valued but not essential; depth of legal domain knowledge and ability to use technology to improve legal work is primary focus
