As a Senior Sales Engineer at Datadog, you will be the technical bridge between the sales team and enterprise customers in the UK, Nordics, and Netherlands regions. You'll partner with sales to articulate Datadog's observability and security platform value proposition, own technical customer engagement during trial phases, and technically close complex opportunities through advanced competitive knowledge and credibility.
Key responsibilities include delivering product and technical briefings to potential clients, managing customer evaluations (POVs), communicating Datadog's value based on customer activities, and working through identified issues to successful conclusions. You'll maintain accurate CRM records of customer feedback and competitive intelligence, and proactively engage with both customers and internal business/technical teams to inform product strategy and competitive positioning.
You'll need 3+ years of sales engineering or DevOps engineering experience, with strong programming skills in languages like Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.js, PHP, or .NET. Excellent written and oral communication abilities are essential—you must articulate both business benefits and technical advantages to diverse audiences. The role requires up to 45% travel to client sites across the region via auto, train, or air.
