Amplitude is a leading AI-powered analytics platform serving 4,700+ customers including Atlassian, Burger King, NBCUniversal, and Square. As Senior Sales Engineer, you'll be the technical quarterback for enterprise deals, partnering with Account Executives to win complex, multi-stakeholder opportunities by translating product capabilities into measurable business outcomes for Product, Marketing, and Analytics leaders.
You'll spend 70% of your time on deal execution: leading technical evaluations for deals ranging $100K–$1M+ ARR, conducting deep discovery to map prospect workflows and tech stack dependencies, designing and executing hands-on proof-of-concepts using the prospect's actual data, handling technical objections around data architecture and compliance, and presenting to C-level executives with ROI narratives.
The remaining 30% focuses on internal collaboration and thought leadership. You'll partner with Product Management to communicate feature gaps affecting deal velocity, work with Customer Success on smooth handoffs, mentor junior SEs on technical positioning and demos, contribute competitive intelligence on Google Analytics 4, Adobe Analytics, and Mixpanel, and develop reusable demo assets and proof-of-concept frameworks.
Required: 5+ years in software pre-sales (SE, Sales Consulting, or technical Account Management); comfort with technical concepts and self-learning (Python, SQL, APIs, R); hands-on SQL experience writing joins, aggregations, and window functions; track record closing technical evaluations in competitive enterprise deals; ability to present technical concepts to engineers and business stakeholders.
Strongly preferred: 2+ years with product analytics, experimentation platforms, or customer data platforms; experience with event-based data models and tracking implementations; familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI); SaaS background selling to Product, Growth, or Marketing teams; understanding of regional data privacy implications.
Success metrics: First 90 days—ramp on platform, complete 3+ customer-facing demos, contribute to 2 POCs. First year—influence closed-won ARR, maintain 70%+ technical win rate, develop 2 reusable assets.
