Salary: USD 93,500 - 230,000 / annual
Commvault (NASDAQ: CVLT) is seeking a Senior Sales Engineer to serve as a technical sales support leader for current and prospective clients in Washington or Oregon. This role combines deep technical expertise with consultative selling to drive complex sales opportunities and build trusted advisor relationships at all organizational levels.
You will work as part of account teams to develop territory plans, account strategies, and sales plans while engaging specialist resources. Key responsibilities include:
- Formulating and executing territory and account strategies, identifying new opportunities within assigned regions
- Calling on senior IT leadership independently to qualify and understand technical, financial, operational, and business requirements
- Establishing relationships with technical decision makers and developing detailed Technical Account Plans using Target Account Selling methodology
- Translating business requirements into technical solution requirements and coordinating technical expertise
- Sizing solutions, defining deployment approaches, timelines, and required resources
- Coordinating demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and pilots
- Presenting compelling cases to C-level executives and business sponsors
- Providing technical expertise and enablement to channel and alliance partners
- Participating actively in sales meetings, QBRs, and regional forums
- Maintaining technical and market expertise through continuous training and certifications
- Supporting internal deal acceptance and process improvements
You will be seen as a trusted advisor, team leader, and mentor who understands how technical decisions impact customer bottom lines and drive Commvault revenue.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years in software or storage industry; 3+ years proven pre-sales sales engineer experience
- Demonstrated success delivering, presenting, and selling to SLED clients and/or assigned territories
- Strong competitive knowledge and consultative selling skills
- Proven experience selling, conducting proof-of-concepts, and architecting data management solutions (backup/recovery, migration, replication, compliance, SRM)
- Experience with case creation and TCO modeling
- Success penetrating and managing minimum three major accounts (Fortune 500-1000)
- Specialized knowledge and proficiency with at least one major open systems operating system, hypervisor, or cloud platform
- Enterprise application exposure (SAP, Oracle, Exchange, DB2, SharePoint, etc.)
- Solid knowledge of infrastructure technologies (storage, servers, networking, cloud, hyper-convergence)
- Basic knowledge of software licensing practices (cloud, perpetual, term, maintenance)
- Sales methodology experience (MEDDIC, TAS, SPIN, Solution Selling, Challenger, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency with Salesforce.com
- BS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering or related field with proven IT industry technical experience (preferred)
- Ability to work remotely and autonomously
- Travel up to 50%
- Must be located in Washington or Oregon
