As a Senior Quantum Field Engineer based in Seoul, you will be a technical customer-facing professional at the intersection of customers, markets, products, and innovation. You'll work with a team of scientists, engineers, salespeople, and product managers to drive IonQ's quantum computing business forward.
Key responsibilities include:
- Inspire prospective clients by explaining IonQ's strategy, portfolio, and quantum solutions (compute, network, security, sensing, space)
- Lead client discussions and shepherd them through understanding how quantum applications can be implemented in their business domain
- Work through business needs and map quantum algorithms (financial services, bioscience, chemistry, materials, optimization, generative AI) into application code
- Execute proof-of-concepts with the IonQ Application team
- Share client insights with Product Management and Engineering teams to inform product development
- Handle competitive objections and translate business needs into technical work projects
- Create assets explaining quantum applications and IonQ products
- Move client conversations from ideation through exploration, proof-of-concept, and into production workflows
- Lead client discovery sessions for business-oriented use cases
- Partner with marketing, developer relations, and business development to grow IonQ's awareness
- Attend industry conferences to engage clients and support booth activities
- Travel approximately 20% domestically and globally for client meetings and IonQ events
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in technical customer-facing roles or equivalent capacity
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or other STEM field (Chemistry, Physics, Engineering)
- Strong communication skills at various levels of depth, persuasion ability, high emotional intelligence, and customer-facing skills
- Motivated learner with strong interest in quantum computing
Desirable qualifications:
- Master's or PhD in a STEM field, potentially adjacent to quantum computing
- Customer-side experience in various verticals, including leadership roles
- Hands-on experience with Qiskit, Cirq, or other quantum computing SDKs
- Proficiency in Python and Jupyter Notebooks
- Expert architecture skills across various technologies (full-stack skills)
- Experience leading technical events
