Hudl is seeking an experienced, automation-focused Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join the North American Sports product team. This team develops analytics and recruitment products for American Football, enabling coaches and analysts to make data-driven decisions on player performance and talent acquisition.
In this role, you will own quality end-to-end for your cross-functional squad, building testing strategies and automation frameworks that ensure reliable, high-quality software delivery. You'll serve as the testing expert and quality advocate, driving quality discussions throughout the development lifecycle and challenging the team to maintain high standards.
Key responsibilities include:
• Lead quality initiatives by building risk-based testing strategies tailored to your squad's architecture, driving quality discussions in scrum ceremonies, and continuously improving testing practices.
• Test across the full stack, designing and executing tests for front-end UI, APIs, backend services, and data pipelines to validate complex logic and transformations at scale.
• Build and maintain reliable, maintainable automated checks using Playwright and scripting languages, making informed decisions about what and when to automate.
• Mentor teammates and raise quality standards across the squad, using your technical depth and quality instincts to coach others and influence how the team approaches quality.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and Design teams, contribute to hiring decisions, and invest in your own professional development.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must-Haves:
• 4+ years of software testing experience with hands-on expertise across the full stack (API testing, backend systems, data-heavy systems, front-end validation)
• Proficiency in automation frameworks like Playwright and programming languages such as Python or TypeScript
• Demonstrated track record of owning quality for a squad, leading testing initiatives end-to-end, defining success criteria, and designing approaches that measurably reduce production risk
• Strong investigative skills with ability to dig into root causes of complex problems, back findings with data, and measure outcomes
• User-focused mindset that shapes testing approach and quality decisions
• Active use of AI tools in day-to-day workflow for test case creation, failure diagnosis, documentation, and efficiency improvements
Nice-to-Haves:
• Experience with performance testing (load, stress, scalability testing) and tools like JMeter
• Background or passion for sports (Basketball, American Football, Ice Hockey) as athlete, coach, or fan
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
