Salary: USD 160,000 - 200,000 / annual
Temporal is an open-source programming model that simplifies code, improves application reliability, and helps developers ship faster. As a Senior Professional Services Engineer, you will be the technical bridge between Temporal and its customers, helping them move from design to production-ready execution quickly and safely.
You will deliver production-ready Temporal implementations by co-building initial workflows with customer and partner engineering teams. Your core responsibilities include implementing and teaching production-safe workflow patterns (retries, timeouts, heartbeats, determinism, versioning), helping customers deploy and operate Temporal Server in both cloud and self-hosted environments, and defining worker deployment, scaling, and operational guardrails.
You will establish observability and reliability standards by designing metrics, alerts, and dashboards for workflows, workers, and Temporal Server. You'll create repeatable runbooks, templates, examples, and documentation that improve delivery quality across engagements, and lead hands-on workshops that enable customer engineers to operate independently.
Owning complex technical delivery issues end-to-end, you'll partner with Support and Platform Architects to reduce escalations to Engineering. You'll also provide actionable product feedback based on real-world implementation patterns and failure modes.
You bring experience delivering and operating production systems where reliability and incident response are critical. You have a strong understanding of distributed systems, failure modes, scaling tradeoffs, and operational safety. You're a hands-on coder in at least one major language (Go, Java, Python, TypeScript) with experience deploying production services in cloud and self-hosted environments. You can design and communicate operational standards, work directly with customers in high-stakes moments with a calm and credible approach, and have strong debugging skills. Most importantly, you enable other engineers through teaching and mentorship, not just by delivering work directly.
