Osmo is a digital olfaction company developing AI/ML-powered technology to give computers a sense of smell for applications in fragrance, manufacturing, security, medicine, and other industries. The company is headquartered in Elizabeth, NJ with an office in Somerville, MA.
This Senior Regulatory Affairs role owns the interpretation and implementation of regulatory requirements for fragrance ingredients and finished products across global markets including the EU, US, UK, and key APAC/LATAM jurisdictions. The position operates with significant independence, resolving complex and novel compliance questions and advising cross-functional teams on regulatory risk before it becomes a blocker.
Key responsibilities include: interpreting and implementing regulatory requirements spanning IFRA, REACH, EU Cosmetic Regulation (1223/2009), FDA/MoCRA, and other applicable frameworks; driving compliance with IFRA standards and determining when formulations must change ahead of restrictions; leading regulatory database and documentation strategy; supporting Perfumery, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, and Commercial teams as the regulatory authority in product development decisions; conducting proactive regulatory risk assessments on raw materials, formulations, and finished products; supporting customer-facing compliance inquiries with judgment on documentation requirements; and tracking emerging global regulatory trends to translate into business recommendations.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Regulatory Affairs, Toxicology, or related field with 8+ years in regulatory affairs specifically within the fragrance industry. Required qualifications include demonstrated global/multi-market regulatory experience owning compliance across multiple major jurisdictions (e.g., EU and US), deep working knowledge of IFRA standards, REACH, EU Cosmetic Regulation, and other relevant global regulations with judgment to apply them where precedent doesn't exist, strong communication skills to advise cross-functional stakeholders, and familiarity with fragrance formulation and raw materials. Experience building or restructuring a regulatory function and acting as regulatory advisor during due diligence or audits is valued.
