KOHO Financial is seeking a Director of Regulatory Compliance Management, Advisory and Privacy Office to lead the compliance advisory function and own the Privacy Office end-to-end. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, you will serve as trusted advisor to business partners across product, marketing, technology, payments, and user success—translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance before products launch.
In the Compliance Advisory capacity, you will be the primary compliance advisor to cross-functional teams, own regulatory interpretation and novel compliance questions, lead marketing and disclosure reviews, and oversee the Whistleblower and Ethics programs including investigations and Board reporting.
For Regulatory Compliance Management, you will collaborate with Legal to own the compliance program: horizon scanning, regulatory impact assessment, implementation of new requirements, maintenance of the obligations inventory, and development/governance of compliance policies and procedures.
As Deputy Chief Privacy Officer, you will establish and mature KOHO's enterprise privacy program aligned to Canadian privacy legislation. You will own Privacy Impact Assessments for new products, vendors, and data uses; lead privacy incident and breach response; manage privacy complaints and access requests; and oversee data inventory, privacy notices, and organizational training.
You will lead a team of compliance and privacy professionals, partner with Financial Crime, Compliance Testing, Operational Risk, Internal Audit, Legal, and Tech/Cyber functions, and represent KOHO externally with industry associations and regulators. You will also advise the business on responsible AI use and evaluate RegTech solutions to improve advisory intake, horizon scanning, and privacy assessments.
Required: 10+ years of progressive compliance, privacy, or regulatory legal experience in financial services with meaningful advisory experience. Deep knowledge of Canadian consumer protection, retail banking/payments, and privacy legislation. Demonstrated track record building or substantially maturing privacy or regulatory change programs. Strong people leadership and clear writing skills. Experience in regulated fintech, neobank, or direct-to-consumer financial institutions preferred. Relevant designations (CIPP/C, CAMS, CRCM, LL.B/JD) valued.
