Salary: USD 200,700 - 250,900 / annual
Mercury is a fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. The Users team owns identity, roles, permissions, invitations, and the authorization layer that all other product teams build upon.
In this role, you will own the identity, roles, permissions, and authorization systems end-to-end. Your responsibilities include:
- Designing and evolving a permission model that is granular enough for demanding enterprise customers, rigorous enough to meet banking charter requirements, and simple enough that most users never think about it
- Operating as a platform PM: setting how other product teams engage with your systems and ensuring your layer accelerates rather than blocks their work
- Improving the user onboarding experience for founders bringing their teams onto Mercury by identifying friction points and making invitations intuitive and trustworthy
- Shaping the product roadmap as Mercury's ambition grows and the types of users supported expand, including agentic actors
You will work autonomously across research, design, engineering, go-to-market, and stakeholder management. The role requires balancing the tension between power and simplicity in permission models—most companies accept increasing complexity as a trade-off, but Mercury sees this as a competitive differentiator.
