Atoms is building Physical AI—real-world autonomous robots for industries including food production, mining, and transport. The company integrates hardware, software, AI, operations, and manufacturing to deploy intelligent machines into real-world environments at scale.
As Senior Product Manager for Operator and In-Vehicle Experience, you will own the complete user experience for autonomous platforms, defining what operators and vehicle occupants see, hear, and do while systems operate. This spans in-vehicle interfaces (state communication, intent signaling, control transfer, fault presentation), operator experiences (manned equipment operators, supervisors, in-cab and handheld controls), and safety-critical interactions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing in-vehicle and operator experiences for autonomous machines, including state communication, confidence signaling, and bidirectional control transfer
- Defining safety-critical requirements for commands, confirmations, degraded states, and stop behavior in collaboration with safety and engineering teams
- Conducting human factors validation with real operators, measuring comprehension, response time, and error rates under working conditions
- Owning both software interfaces and physical controls, displays, and indicators; partnering with hardware and industrial design
- Writing product requirements, maintaining roadmaps, and running delivery with engineering teams
- Conducting on-site field research with equipment operators, vehicle operators, and supervisors
- Partnering cross-functionally with engineering, autonomy, safety, hardware, field operations, and training teams
You will work in an environment where the product, underlying autonomy system, and customer operations are concurrently in development. The role requires on-site presence in San Francisco five days per week and regular travel to customer sites, including internationally.
