As Senior Product Manager for Underwriting, you will lead complex product initiatives across the underwriting domain, owning outcomes from problem definition through launch and adoption. You'll partner directly with insurance carriers and underwriters to shape platform capabilities, translating their requirements and regulatory constraints into product specifications that engineering can build and underwriters can operate effectively.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining product roadmaps that balance near-term capability gaps with long-term platform vision, leveraging AI tools and agentic workflows as core components of product development. You'll identify improvement opportunities through direct observation of underwriting workflows, data analysis, and client feedback. The role requires influencing stakeholders across the organization by communicating product vision and strategy, while coaching and mentoring junior product managers.
You bring 5+ years of product management experience with hands-on life insurance expertise, ideally in or adjacent to underwriting. You understand underwriting workflows intimately—evidence and requirements, APS and lab data, carrier guidelines, and the judgment calls between application and decision. You have a proven track record building products for expert users making consequential decisions where speed matters but accuracy and auditability matter more.
You actively use AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Lovable, Replit, or equivalent) as daily working accelerants for synthesis, research, and structured thinking. You're comfortable building personal context systems and loading information into AI tools effectively. You have demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, strong analytical skills, and experience with user research, usability testing, and UI/UX design principles for complex systems.
