GitLab is seeking a Senior Product Manager for Switchboard, the control plane for GitLab Dedicated infrastructure. In this role, you will own the product vision and roadmap for Switchboard, balancing technical and operational needs with a clear, useful customer experience. Switchboard serves two audiences: internal engineering and site reliability engineering teams who use it to scale upgrades and maintenance across a growing fleet of customer instances, and external customers who use it to configure their infrastructure, understand environment health, and receive critical updates. Dedicated is GitLab's fastest-growing deployment option, and your work will directly support the business in scaling customer support efficiently. Key responsibilities include: - Setting the vision and roadmap for Switchboard, connecting customer needs and internal operational challenges to engineering priorities - Working with engineering and SRE teams to improve tools for operating Dedicated instances, including upgrades and maintenance workflows - Improving the customer-facing console to enable infrastructure configuration, private networking and authentication setup, and instance health visibility - Conducting direct customer conversations to understand needs, explain product decisions, and incorporate feedback into roadmap planning - Bringing strong UX perspective to product decisions and working hands-on with engineering to develop and refine workflows - Exploring opportunities to improve tooling and experience for customers migrating from self-managed GitLab to Dedicated, incident management capabilities, and extending Switchboard to support GitLab.com as its architecture evolves You will have autonomy to identify the most important problems and decide where Switchboard should go next, with support from your manager and engineering partners. You'll work across product management, engineering, and site reliability engineering to solve technical, operational, and user experience problems. Requirements: - Experience owning a product vision and roadmap and working with engineering to deliver improvements for users - Technical understanding sufficient to discuss infrastructure and operational tradeoffs with engineers and translate them into clear product decisions - Strong focus on user experience, with demonstrated experience making complex technical workflows easier to understand and use - Clear communication skills and ability/interest to work directly with customers; experience with internal tools is relevant if comfortable taking on customer-facing product work - Ability to work independently, make sense of an evolving problem space, and prioritize across customer experience, operational efficiency, and business needs - Nice-to-have: experience with control planes, cloud management consoles, infrastructure products, internal operational tools, customer migrations, or incident management (not required)
