Courtyard is a fast-growing collectibles startup that digitizes physical collectibles (cards, sneakers, watches, etc.) into tradeable digital assets. The company operates a two-sided marketplace platform with pack ripping, instant liquidity, and trusted vaulting as core features.
You will own the Marketplace product end-to-end, reporting to the Director of Product Management. This is a true ownership role—not coordination or documentation, but strategic and tactical leadership of a critical product pillar. The Marketplace is how users stay, trade, and build collections after discovering Courtyard through pack ripping.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and sequencing the Marketplace roadmap (buying, selling, trading flows)
- Discovery and search: how users find items, browse, and convert from curiosity to purchase
- Buy-side experience: listings, offers, checkout, trust signals (pricing, condition, provenance)
- Sell-side experience: listing flows, pricing tools, seller analytics, and converting collectors into repeat sellers
- Marketplace economics: take rate, fees, promotions, GMV and margin optimization
- New marketplace formats: scoping and testing auctions, bounties, trades, and emerging features
Success milestones: By 30 days, you've mapped the current Marketplace and identified top-impact opportunities. By 60 days, you've shipped something and drafted the roadmap. By 90 days, you're running workstreams end-to-end with team trust and ownership.
You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering, design, data, operations, and marketing leadership daily in a high-velocity, scrappy-but-structured environment. The role requires balancing strategy (6-month vision) with execution (spec-level detail), and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Marketplace experience: built or grown a two-sided marketplace or liquidity-dependent product; understand supply/demand dynamics, pricing, and trust
- Product taste and judgment: can choose between valid options, validate to leadership, know what good feels like
- Data-driven and experiment-minded: comfortable with A/B testing, product analytics, funnel analysis; define success before shipping
- AI-native workflow: use AI in your own work; have opinions on AI applications for pricing, search, listing creation, personalization
- Strong opinions held well: conviction to push back on leadership and roadmap; ability to change mind publicly when shown something better
- Bias to action in chaos: take ambiguous concepts and give team clarity to deliver
- Strategic and tactical range: write specs and answer "where should we be in 6 months and why"
- Operate without a net: this is a senior seat requiring independent judgment
BONUS: eCommerce, fintech, or gaming experience at companies that scaled from scrappy to structured; personal experience as buyer/seller (eBay, StockX, Whatnot, Etsy, Airbnb, etc.); collector mindset; passionate about something.
