CAIS is a fintech platform democratizing access to alternative investments and structured notes for independent advisors, asset managers, and bank issuers. The company serves over 2,500 wealth management firms representing 65,000+ financial advisors managing approximately $8.5 trillion in end-client assets.
You will lead product direction for the Core Platform team, which owns foundational infrastructure that every other product team at CAIS depends on: identity and access management (IAM), learning management, homepage, and public website. This includes enterprise authentication, firm/user/permission management tools, and regulatory workflows that ensure user accuracy, security, and auditability. This is high-leverage, foundational work—when the platform is healthy, every product team moves faster.
You will set product strategy for a small, high-surface-area team in close partnership with engineering leadership, sequencing the backlog against capacity. You'll serve as connective tissue between Core Platform and dependent squads (Capital Markets, Funds, Marketing, Sales, Data), making clear calls on where shared mechanisms end and consuming teams' implementations begin. AI is central to how the company works; you'll experiment with and use AI tools daily to drive product outcomes, from research and requirements to prioritization and measurement.
Key responsibilities include: owning product direction for IAM, Access Manager, firm/user/role/team administration, enterprise authentication (SSO, MFA), content and learning management systems, and shared frameworks; driving platform modernization including self-service firm administration and bulk user management; owning the enterprise authentication roadmap (firm-context resolution, SSO migrations, login/session experience); partnering with Compliance and Legal on identity-integrity and regulatory workflows; setting direction for CAIS IQ platform modernization (learning/compliance education product); evaluating emerging initiatives with evidence-based build/no-build recommendations; bringing hands-on product engagement to day-to-day team operations (backlog refinement, prioritization); representing team priorities in cross-functional planning; and partnering with engineering leadership on resourcing and sequencing decisions.
The role is hands-on; your presence and judgment set the team's direction day-to-day, not just at the roadmap level. You'll translate infrastructure trade-offs into business-impact language for non-technical stakeholders while remaining technically credible with engineering peers.
Culture: CAIS is recognized as a Best Place to Work and is committed to fostering an inclusive environment. The company offers a flexible hybrid model requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in either the New York City or Austin office.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated product management experience, including leading platform or infrastructure product areas (not solely client-facing features), ideally within fintech or another regulated B2B environment
- Experience leading day-to-day product delivery with engineering teams, including backlog refinement, planning, and release coordination
- Understanding of compliance-adjacent product work (identity verification, regulatory identifiers, sanctions/KYC-style screening, audit trail requirements) in a regulated industry
- Proven ability to operate as a platform PM: defining clear ownership boundaries between a shared-services team and consuming crews, and holding that line with engineering peers
- Strong stakeholder management skills: able to translate infrastructure and platform work into business-impact language for executive, non-technical audiences while remaining technically credible with engineering counterparts
HIGHLY ADVANTAGEOUS:
- Hands-on experience with Auth0 or comparable identity provider
- Experience with identity and access management concepts: authentication (SSO/SAML/OAuth), authorization and permissions models, multi-tenant firm/user/role hierarchies
- Familiarity with Team Topologies or other platform/shared-services team operating models
- Experience in wealth management, alternative investments, or broader capital markets technology
- Exposure to learning management systems or compliance education platforms
