Mercury is a fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. You will own the full Mercury Invoicing product experience—a fast-growing offering serving customers across Technology, Professional Services, Real Estate, and beyond.
In this role, you will own the complete invoicing roadmap across all surfaces: the dashboard where businesses track what they're owed, the builder where they create invoices, and the payer experience. You'll work closely with the PM who built Invoicing from scratch and now leads adjacent efforts, deciding how the product grows to meet more complex customer needs while preserving the simplicity that attracted customers initially.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the roadmap for Mercury Invoicing across dashboard, builder, and payer experience
- Conducting customer and prospect research to inform product direction
- Executing a full backlog of known customer needs: accounting integrations, invoice templates, credits and credit memos, promos and coupons
- Balancing product simplicity with increased power as customers scale
- Identifying meaningful AI applications without chasing hype
- Partnering closely with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Product Marketing, Customer Support, Sales, Risk, and adjacent product teams like Mercury Books
- Growing the business measured by active users, feature adoption, and customer retention
Requirements:
- 5+ years of product management experience building and shipping products, ideally in domains where money moves and mistakes are costly
- Strong product judgment: ability to prioritize a full backlog and articulate reasoning
- Demonstrated passion for customer research and translating feedback into products customers love
- Meticulous attention to detail (invoices involve money; small details matter)
- High agency and comfort owning products end-to-end from problem definition through launch and iteration
- Strong partnership skills with engineering and design; ability to align cross-functional stakeholders
- Ability to learn new domains quickly
Nice-to-have experience:
- Background at companies serving startups and/or small businesses
- Prior work on invoicing, accounts receivable, billing, or payments products
- Familiarity with accounting integrations (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite)
Note: Prior invoicing or AR experience is not required; customer instincts, product judgment, and domain-learning ability are prioritized.
