Osmo is a digital olfaction company building AI-powered software to give computers a sense of smell, with applications across fragrance, manufacturing, security, medicine, and more. The company is headquartered in Elizabeth, NJ with an office in Somerville, MA.
You will own the internal tools initiative end-to-end as Osmo scales its Software and AI organization. This is a hands-on product role focused on scoping, requirements definition, and delivery negotiation—not program management. Your first mandate is to identify the 3-5 internal workflow tools that would drive 80% of impact, embed with relevant teams to deeply understand problems, and deliver clear requirements to engineering.
Key responsibilities:
- Independently scope projects end-to-end: understand business value and customer need, then write clear, complete requirements.
- Negotiate scope and estimates with engineering: push back with specifics when estimates don't align, ask for breakdowns, and simplify requirements to ship faster.
- Identify and sequence Osmo's highest-value internal tooling opportunities.
- Rapidly embed into workstreams, master them deeply, and emerge with requirements and plans.
- Partner directly with the CTO's engineering team to deliver against committed dates.
- Operate without a script: take high-level direction into ambiguous space and bring back clarity, milestones, and a plan.
- Bring structure without bureaucracy: sequence and manage ambiguous initiatives without adding unnecessary process.
- Pivot fluidly across workstreams as priorities shift, applying core PM skills to new problems.
- Use AI as a working tool for requirements drafting, dependency tracking, and stakeholder communication.
Success in the first 6-12 months means independently scoping, writing requirements for, and negotiating delivery of a project end-to-end with minimal oversight. You'll then take on new domains (Studio 2.0, procurement/supply chain) as Osmo scales.
Requirements:
- Mid-to-senior level generalist PM with proven ability to work independently and bring PM best practices without training on fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience collaborating directly with engineering teams; ability to question estimates and land on realistic scope.
- Sustained, core experience writing requirements documents (not one-off exercises).
- Comfort operating in ambiguity: can take loosely defined problems and high-level directives and figure out the rest.
- Clear, confident communicator who can bridge business needs and engineering constraints; comfortable pushing back on senior stakeholders when timelines, scope, or resources don't add up.
- Fluency with modern AI tools (LLMs, automation platforms, workflow builders) with a track record of using them in your own work.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Standout qualifications:
- Thrive in ambiguity and build your way out of it.
- Experience working alongside deep technical or scientific teams (ML, hardware, R&D-heavy functions).
- Track record pivoting across genuinely different product areas within the same company and ramping quickly.
- Experience at small, fast-moving companies where you built process rather than inherited it.
- Demonstrated ability to drive alignment and delivery in flat orgs through credibility, not title.
- Prior experience scoping and delivering internal tooling or workflow improvements that measurably reduced manual work or fixed broken information flow.
