Duolingo is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead growth strategy and execution for a core pillar of the business. You will own product strategy across retention and user engagement features—including streaks, quests, leaderboards, notifications, and new habit-building mechanics—with daily active users (DAUs) as the north star metric.
In this role, you will independently drive the full product lifecycle: identifying growth opportunities, prioritizing initiatives, specifying features, partnering with engineering and design through development, launching, analyzing results, and iterating based on learnings. You'll work cross-functionally with product designers, writers, data scientists, and ML/AI partners to create more retentive experiences for Duolingo's 500+ million learners worldwide.
Key responsibilities include owning the growth team's roadmap, driving high-impact workstreams, improving core metrics (retention, L7, feature adoption), and partnering with leadership to shape strategic direction. You'll be expected to move quickly, run fast experiments, and translate insights into product strategy that helps users build lasting language-learning habits.
Required qualifications: proven track record as a Product Manager on consumer mobile products, significant experience in growth or growth-adjacent roles (ideally owning DAU/WAU or retention), demonstrated ability to own product strategy end-to-end from opportunity identification through launch and iteration, strong analytical judgment and product instincts, ability to drive alignment independently in ambiguous spaces, and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Design, Psychology, or equivalent.
Preferred: advanced degree in a related field, experience with high-frequency engagement products (health, wellness, fitness, mobile games), and strong judgment balancing short- and long-term retention in freemium monetization models.
