Checkout.com is a global payments platform processing over 10 billion transactions yearly for companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony. You'll join the Financial Crime product team within the Risk and Compliance domain, reporting to the Group Product Manager.
You will own the end-to-end roadmap for anti-money-laundering (AML) transaction monitoring—the systems that detect suspicious payment patterns and prevent the platform from being used to launder money. The company recently brought this engine fully in-house, creating significant opportunity to build sharper detection capabilities, reduce false positives, and improve tools for investigation teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the transaction monitoring roadmap from detection rules that flag suspicious patterns to investigation agent tooling
- Driving down false positives at scale by combining rules logic and LLMs while maintaining genuine risk coverage
- Partnering closely with a dedicated engineering team of five, plus Compliance and Risk functions to ship and iterate on the maturing platform
- Navigating a fast-moving, evolving compliance environment while pushing technical and organizational change forward
Success is measured by reducing manual workload for L1 investigation agents, lowering false-positive rates while increasing detection of risky patterns, and becoming the trusted owner of this product area across the business.
You should have proven product management experience shipping data-driven or risk products, ideally in fintech or payments within regulated, fast-moving environments. Strong analytical instincts around risk, false positives, and operational monitoring workflows are essential. You'll work hand-in-hand with engineering on core backend platforms, communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences, and use data and ML/LLM models to set priorities.
Nice-to-have experience includes direct work in financial crime, AML transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, or LLM-driven detection in risk/fraud contexts. Checkout.com operates a hybrid model with three days per week in the London office, with 20 offices across six continents.
