Chainguard is building Athena, a system that secures the open source supply chain at enterprise scale. Athena processes vulnerability reports from enterprise customers, validates and deduplicates findings, and routes clean signals to remediation, acting as the clearing house between customers and Chainguard's remediation engine.
As Senior Product Manager for Athena, you will own the end-to-end member experience—from vulnerability intake and submission through validation, remediation, and delivery of patches and advisories. Your scope spans private feeds, the Chainguard Console, documentation, and customer-facing operations. Rather than owning a single feature, you will bring together multiple teams and related product areas to create a cohesive, scalable member experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define product strategy, roadmap, and priorities for the member experience across intake, validation, status visibility, remediation, and how patches/advisories appear in OSV and VEX feeds, private feeds, the registry, console, and documentation
- Serve as the primary product voice representing Athena internally and with customers on scope, capabilities, and direction
- Convert field input, recurring questions, feedback, and feature requests into clear problem statements and maintain a well-prioritized backlog
- Lead cross-functional delivery across Engineering, remediation, Documentation, Customer Success, and other partners; work on data validation, workflow routing, entitlements, access controls, reliability, patch delivery, disclosure readiness, SBOMs, provenance, and capacity tradeoffs
- Define and report member-experience metrics including submission volume and coverage, time to patch, status visibility, and feed adoption; raise customer, delivery, and business risks early, especially around disclosure cycles
- Serve as a trusted partner and mentor to product peers
This is a highly cross-functional role for a product leader who understands deeply technical enterprise customers, can create clarity from noisy input, and is comfortable operating independently in a fast-moving security environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of product management experience, including ownership of a technical B2B product serving enterprise customers in regulated industries; financial-services experience is strongly preferred
- Working fluency in software supply chain security, including CVEs, OSV, VEX, SBOMs, provenance, and vulnerability disclosure
- Experience leading complex initiatives across multiple engineering and business teams without relying on direct authority
- Strong judgment when balancing customer urgency, disclosure timelines, technical constraints, and broader business priorities
- Comfort operating with high independence across multiple related problem spaces in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with technical teams, customer-facing partners, executives, and enterprise customers
