This Senior Product Manager role owns the device installation and provisioning experience across Samsara's hardware ecosystem. Samsara ships hundreds of thousands of devices annually, with single customer rollouts exceeding 50,000 units. The role focuses on optimizing the critical five-minute window where a device transitions from packaging to live operation in the field.
Key responsibilities include:
• Own the three-year vision for device installation and provisioning as the platform expands across new products, device types, and geographies.
• Drive install correctness—the share of installs completed right on first attempt—as the primary success metric. Current performance varies by several points depending on whether installers use the Samsara Fleet App.
• Own the guided install and verification flow in the Samsara Fleet app, serving both professional contracted technicians (seeking speed on their twentieth install of the day) and customer shop mechanics (needing guidance on their first install).
• Build intelligence and automation into the install experience, reducing active app time to under five minutes while ensuring the system self-validates before the installer departs.
• Instrument the funnel so every outcome is attributable, moving the correctness metric quarter over quarter.
• Work with a dedicated engineering and design team to ship solutions that compound value across Samsara's product suite, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, and Equipment Monitoring.
The role requires understanding both the technical complexity of hardware provisioning and the real-world constraints of field installation—technicians in truck bays, sometimes without signal, holding phones. Success directly impacts safety, efficiency, and sustainability of physical operations globally.
