CHAOS Industries is a defense technology company founded in 2022 and backed by $1 billion in funding from investors including 8VC, Accel, and Valor Equity Partners. The company develops multi-product defense systems powered by Coherent Distributed Networks (CDN™) that serve warfighters, commercial air operators, and border protection teams.
As Senior Product Manager, you will own two closely related product areas: tactical command-and-control (C2) software and the integration platform that connects CHAOS systems to the broader operational ecosystem, including kinetic effector efforts. You will work across software, systems, hardware, operators, and program teams to translate ambiguous mission needs into products that function in real deployments.
The integration platform enables external sensors and data sources to integrate with CHAOS systems, allows external C2 systems to control or coordinate CHAOS capabilities, and handles effector engagements. Success means building intuitive operator software while making CHAOS systems easy to integrate into larger, heterogeneous mission architectures.
Key responsibilities include: owning product direction, prioritization, and execution for tactical C2 software and integration platform; translating operator workflows, mission needs, and interoperability requirements into product decisions and engineering priorities; determining where capabilities should live across CHAOS C2, shared platform services, external sensors, and higher-level C2 systems; partnering deeply with engineers on tradeoffs involving interfaces, data flows, latency, failure modes, networking, and deployment constraints; balancing urgent program-specific integrations with reusable platform capabilities; and building durable relationships across engineering, programs, operations, and business teams.
The role is based in San Francisco with the CHAOS software team and requires full-time onsite presence. Regular travel may be required for product testing, customer demonstrations, integrations, and cross-functional collaboration.
**Requirements:**
- 7+ years of relevant experience, including substantial ownership of complex software products; roughly 5+ years in product management or equivalent product ownership role
- Ability to thrive in technically complex, ambiguous environments and independently drive a product from problem definition through delivery
- Comfort working with engineers at depth without needing to be the technical decision-maker
- Systems thinking: understanding users, hardware, software, interfaces, dependencies, failure modes, and operational constraints
- Ability to quickly become conversant in unfamiliar domains, earn credibility with technical and operational stakeholders, and know when to pull in deeper expertise
- Capacity to separate critical product decisions from noise and make sound tradeoffs under time and information constraints
- Experience with software that interacts with hardware, sensors, networks, external systems, or real-world operations
- Comfort with core systems-engineering practices—requirements definition and traceability, interface definition, and trade-off analysis—applied in service of product decisions
- Strong written and verbal communication, product judgment, and ability to drive alignment without formal authority
**Preferred Requirements:**
- Experience in C2, battle management, mission systems, air defense, radar/sensors, autonomy, aerospace, tactical networks, systems integration, or related operational software
- Familiarity with interoperability standards used in mission systems (e.g., Link 16, TAK/Cursor-on-Target)
- Military operational experience—especially in air defense or adjacent missions—paired with demonstrated software/product aptitude
