Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, transforming how legal professionals and law firms work. This Senior Product Manager role owns the product vision and execution for AI Search—a critical platform that moves Clio from keyword search to hybrid lexical and semantic search across documents, communications, and records.
You will lead an engineering and ML team building search end-to-end: from document ingestion through retrieval, ranking, and the global search bar integrated across Clio's Manage, DMS, Grow, and Work products. The search platform is shared across all products, so your work directly impacts the entire suite and feeds into other AI features like Vincent.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting the product vision for search and translating customer pain points ("why can't I find my document?") into a prioritized roadmap with measurable outcomes
- Running planning and execution with engineers and ML engineers, shipping iteratively
- Owning search quality measurement: designing A/B tests, click-through analysis, and offline evaluations to validate improvements in relevance and ranking
- Collaborating across DMS, Manage, Grow, Unified Comms, and AI teams to unify search across documents, emails, and records while respecting permissions and customer AI opt-out preferences
- Making product decisions on search UX: which results and filters to surface, how to explain semantic matches, and balancing relevance, latency, and cost at scale
- Staying current with AI retrieval and legal tech trends to anticipate customer expectations
You will work in a fast-moving environment where people own their outcomes. The role is available to candidates across Canada (excluding Quebec) and the US. If local to Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto, you will be expected in office twice per week on Anchor Days.
Requirements:
- Product management experience, ideally on search, information retrieval, or AI products (legal tech experience is a plus)
- Proven track record shipping search or retrieval that measurably improved relevance; strong intuition for what actually helps users find things vs. what demos well
- Ability to lead and motivate engineering and ML teams in a fast-moving environment
- Strong technical foundation: comfortable discussing lexical, semantic, and hybrid retrieval, embeddings, and ranking across multi-product suites
- Clear communication skills connecting customer needs with technical capabilities; ability to align engineering, ML, design, and partner product teams
- Good judgment on which search problems to prioritize
- Experience with both 0-1 product development and scaling existing products
