Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, transforming how legal professionals and law firms work. This Senior Product Manager role leads the AI Search product, owning the evolution from keyword search to hybrid lexical and semantic search across documents, communications, and records within Clio's platform.
You will own the complete product vision for search, working with an engineering and ML team to understand what lawyers actually need to find and the fastest path to delivering it. Your responsibilities include:
- Setting product vision and strategy for search, translating customer pain points into a prioritized roadmap
- Owning search quality measurement and evaluation, using A/B tests, click-through data, and offline evaluations to drive improvements
- Running planning and execution with engineers and ML engineers, shipping iteratively and continuously improving
- Making product decisions on search experience: which results, filters, and metadata to surface; how to explain semantic matches; balancing relevance, latency, and cost at scale
- Cross-functional collaboration with DMS, Manage, Grow, Unified Comms, and AI teams to unify search across documents, emails, and records while respecting permissions and customer AI opt-out preferences
- Staying current on AI retrieval and legal tech trends to anticipate customer expectations
The AI Search team owns search end-to-end at Clio, from document ingestion through retrieval, ranking, and the global search interface. You'll build a shared platform that powers search across all Clio products and feeds other AI features like Vincent.
The role is available to candidates across Canada (excluding Quebec) and the US. If local to Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto, you'll be expected in office twice per week on Anchor Days.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Product management experience, ideally on search, information retrieval, or AI products (legal tech experience is a plus)
- Track record of shipping search or retrieval that measurably improved relevance
- Ability to lead and motivate engineering and ML teams in fast-moving environments
- Strong technical foundation: comfortable discussing lexical, semantic, and hybrid retrieval, embeddings, and ranking across multi-product suites
- Clear communication skills connecting customer needs with technical capabilities
- Good judgment on which search problems to prioritize
- Experience with both 0-1 product development and scaling existing products
