Salary: CAD 156,000 - 214,500 / annual
Faire is a technology wholesale platform connecting independent retailers globally with suppliers. Faire Pay is the company's proprietary payment method for retailers—a Faire-specific credit card offering discounts, payment flexibility, and predictable due dates on wholesale purchases. Instead of paying per order, retailers receive a single monthly statement with transparent repayment terms and savings.
As a Senior Engineer (L4) on the Faire Pay team, you will own critical backend services powering the payments system. Your responsibilities include:
• Owning core Kotlin-based services handling KYB/KYC verification, third-party integrations, credit limits, monthly statements, interest and fee calculations—with emphasis on performance, accuracy, and compliance
• Collaborating with Product and Design to enhance the retailer experience across enrollment, checkout, statements, and repayment flows
• Partnering with Risk and Data Science teams to integrate eligibility, underwriting, and limit-assignment signals while maintaining pipeline reliability
• Measuring and iterating on program performance through experimentation and analytics to drive adoption and healthy repayment behavior
• Mentoring engineers and setting standards for design reviews, testing, and operational excellence on a system handling real money

Hybrid employees work in-office three days per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and one flex day) with flexibility to work remotely up to four weeks annually.
**Requirements:**
• 5+ years of backend systems experience; payments, credit, or lending experience is a strong plus
• Proficiency in Kotlin or similar object-oriented languages; strong foundation in distributed systems, service design, and data consistency
• Comfort designing systems where correctness, auditability, and compliance are critical
• Strong communication skills and proven cross-functional collaboration
• Experience partnering with Risk and Data Science on risk models, underwriting pipelines, or experimentation frameworks
• Curiosity about financial products and ability to balance excellent retailer experience with sound risk management
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent industry experience
