Tiney is building a better childcare system by helping passionate people open and run their own childminding businesses from home. The tiney app provides education tools, payments, contracts, messaging, and more to support childminders.
As a Senior Product Engineer, you'll own real problems end-to-end—from understanding customer needs and commercial drivers, through requirements and solution design, to measuring impact. You'll work in an AI-first environment where a small team of exceptional people focuses on problems that matter, leveraging AI as a daily tool rather than writing every line of code manually.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning outcomes, not just tickets: take a goal (e.g., speed up onboarding, reduce invoice complaints) and drive it to a measurable result in production
- Building across the full stack with AI as your daily tool, decomposing work, setting up tests and evals, and owning the output
- Treating the harness (prompts, rules, tests, evals, guardrails) as the product itself—building the systems that make AI produce correct, on-pattern code
- Owning the user experience: caring about UI/UX, speed, and polish within the Design System
- Raising quality standards through the system: deciding what's safe to ship on automated review versus what needs human review
- Enabling non-engineers to build safely and quickly by creating paths and guardrails
- Staying close to customers: speaking with them, supporting technical issues, and shaping your work based on real feedback
You'll need several years shipping web/mobile products at a senior level, a product-minded approach with opinions on design and commercial outcomes, comfort across the stack, and fluency with AI-assisted development. You should be data literate, a strong communicator, and UK-based with ability to travel occasionally to London or Birmingham (~once per month). Nice-to-haves include experience with agent tooling, fast-moving startups, or their tech stack (TypeScript, Node.js, Expo, Firebase, Postgres, BigQuery, GCP).
