Degreed is an enterprise learning platform that combines courses, videos, articles, projects, and AI-driven skill insights to help organizations build cultures of continuous learning. The company was recently named to Fast Company's World's Most Innovative Companies of 2026.
As a Senior Product Designer, you will own end-to-end design for features across Degreed's learning and skills platform, from problem framing and discovery through specs, QA, and launch. You'll work on a distributed, remote-first team alongside product managers and engineers in a collaborative, non-handoff environment.
Key responsibilities include:
• Own complete design lifecycle for platform features, including customer research, interaction design, visual execution, and design system contributions
• Lead customer discovery calls and usability testing to inform design decisions
• Extend and maintain Degreed's design system, making judgment calls on when to create new components versus reuse existing patterns
• Audit and rework existing surfaces (admin settings, profiles, learning workflows) to reduce inconsistency as the product scales
• Design AI-native workflows, deciding what should be invisible automation versus what needs to remain observable and auditable to users
• Design conversational and agent-facing experiences alongside traditional UI, extending design patterns for emerging AI interaction models
• Partner with product and tech leads to scope work and define requirements
• Present work in design reviews and incorporate cross-functional feedback while protecting core interaction models
You'll need strong product design craft—the ability to take ambiguous or conflicting enterprise customer input and translate it into scoped, buildable specs with clear interaction models and visual execution. You should have AI-native design judgment: understanding when a workflow needs visible UI at all, and weighing observability, reversibility, and auditability before delegating to AI.
Experience with prototyping (code or AI-assisted tools), prompt engineering, and technical understanding of AI capabilities and limitations is essential. You should be fluent with design systems and comfortable using AI tools to prototype interactions, generate component variations, and identify workflows that can be delegated to AI rather than built as UI.
