Clear Street Active is building a new retail trading product covering equities, options, futures, crypto, and prediction markets. You will own the core trading surfaces—research, order entry, position management, and portfolio—working directly with engineers and product managers in a small, collaborative team.
Your responsibilities include:
- Owning product design across all trading surfaces, from flow-level decisions to micro-interactions that matter during active trading
- Prototyping in the real codebase using AI tooling, moving beyond static design tools
- Building and evolving the design system as it scales, identifying gaps and growth areas
- Participating directly in product decisions with strong, informed opinions
- Ensuring mobile-first design across all surfaces
This is a high-autonomy role where you set direction, course-correct when needed, and operate without ego in a small team where everyone builds, gives feedback, and stays embedded in the work.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Shipped retail trading products with real users (equities, options, futures, crypto, or meaningful combinations). Experience designing for people making real trades with real money is essential.
- Deep understanding of trading mechanics and ability to identify where current products fall short
- Strong design craft and taste; work should be considered and polished
- Mobile-first mindset; mobile is expected, not optional
- Ability to prototype in real codebases using AI tooling (not expected to write production code, but Figma alone is insufficient)
- High autonomy and self-direction
NICE TO HAVE:
- Background at a consumer fintech with strong design culture
- Specific UX experience with options or derivatives
- Design system contribution or ownership experience
