Upway is the leading platform for buying and selling refurbished e-bikes across Europe and the US, on a mission to make electric mobility accessible to everyone. Following Series C funding, the company is assembling an A-class Product & Tech team and seeking its first Senior Product Designer in a founding role.
You will own design across three interconnected product areas: Supply (B2B platform for 5,000+ retailers to sell bikes, plus consumer-facing seller tools), Operations (internal tools for logistics, repairs, spare-parts management, quality control, and robotics-enabled workflows at UpCenters), and E-commerce (1M+ monthly visitors, consumer purchasing experience, trust-building, and AI-guided discovery).
Key responsibilities include leading user research across diverse stakeholders (shop owners, mechanics, first-time buyers, experienced riders), delivering production-ready designs with pixel-perfect craft, building and evolving design systems for B2B, B2C, and internal platforms, solving complex problems collaboratively with Product and Engineering, and contributing to long-term product vision.
You will run discovery by visiting UpCenters, shadowing operators, and interviewing customers. You'll translate high-complexity workflows into intuitive interfaces, ship design systems that enable faster iteration without quality loss, and leverage AI tools for rapid prototyping. This is a hands-on role where you'll set design standards, defend strong opinions, and move with intensity and pragmatism in a high-velocity environment.
Required: 5+ years of product design experience in complex, high-growth environments. You demonstrate craft excellence (design systems, pixel-perfect execution, attention to detail), customer obsession (curiosity and empathy for diverse user types), ownership and intensity (care for flawless interactions, strong convictions), and pace with pragmatism (rapid prototyping, shipping often, comfort with AI tools and occasional front-end contributions).
