Halter is a climate-tech company revolutionizing sustainable grazing through solar-powered smart collars and software that enable farmers to manage cattle, pasture, and environmental outcomes in real time from a mobile app. The company is backed by tier-1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, and DCVC.
You will lead the design of a significant product area and establish Halter's design systems and foundations across mobile and web platforms. This is a high-agency, high-impact role where you'll set the standard for craft across the organization, shape technical architecture alongside engineers, and mentor designers to raise quality company-wide.
Key responsibilities include: owning and advancing design foundations; establishing principles and guidance that raise quality across teams; treating the design system as a product with real customers; working with engineers on technical structure and component libraries; documenting patterns and reusable foundations; and coaching designers through feedback and mentorship.
You'll spend time in the field with farmers and ranchers, translating real-world farm conditions into design standards—legibility, target sizes, clarity at a glance. The role requires balancing craft excellence with pragmatism: deciding what earns the right to be a system pattern versus what's better as a considered one-off.
The company culture emphasizes high performance, meaningful work, and solving genuinely hard problems. You'll work in a collaborative environment where design helps define what to build and why, with real influence on product direction.
