Mercury is a fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. The company is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join the Cards & Credit team, focusing on creating thoughtful, intuitive experiences for complex financial products.
In this role, you will own meaningful product problems end-to-end, from initial framing through shipped experience. You'll partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to understand problems and shape solutions. Your responsibilities include transforming complicated systems, requirements, and edge cases into remarkably simple and intuitive experiences. You'll work across the entire design stack—from problem framing and concept exploration to workflows, detailed interactions, visual design, prototyping, and implementation.
You'll explore broadly and design from first principles, questioning inherited patterns and assumptions when better solutions exist. You'll bring high-level interaction and visual craft to the Cards & Credit experience, attending to workflow structure, hierarchy, typography, motion, and state. Collaboration with Mercury's Brand team on physical cards and related products is essential to create cohesive experiences between physical objects and digital interactions.
Key expectations include developing deep customer understanding, communicating design reasoning clearly, and working through tradeoffs with partners to reach the strongest solutions. You'll demonstrate exceptional product thinking, interaction design, and visual craft through a strong portfolio. You should excel at understanding complicated systems and translating them into simple, thoughtful experiences. Deep curiosity about problem origins, willingness to question assumptions, and comfort with ambiguity are essential. You'll explore multiple possibilities, prototype ideas, and pivot when stronger solutions emerge. Strong communication and collaboration skills are critical for articulating thinking, explaining tradeoffs, and building conviction with cross-functional partners.
No background in banking, fintech, cards, or credit is required. Mercury values the instinct to find essence in complexity over domain expertise.
