Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering unprecedented Earth observation data via a cloud-based platform to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. As both a space and data company, Planet combines hardware design, manufacturing, data processing, and software engineering. You will serve as Senior Product Designer, responsible for designing and launching solutions for CivGov and Commercial markets. Your focus will be translating Planet's satellite Earth observation capabilities into intuitive, user-centric interfaces that help customers derive actionable insights from complex geospatial data. Key responsibilities include: - Drive end-to-end design processes from discovery and user research through prototyping and high-fidelity execution - Lead user research and prototype testing to validate use cases, ensuring development is grounded in real user needs - Define clear, user-centric objectives and success criteria for different customer segments (e.g., compliance officers, commercial analysts) - Architect intuitive interfaces that make complex geospatial data accessible, establishing reusable interaction patterns and design components - Partner with Product and Engineering to ensure design quality and bridge technical capability with customer value - Contribute to building Planet's design culture and elevating design practices across the organization You bring 6+ years designing complex SaaS or B2B products from ideation through launch, with a strong portfolio demonstrating your process and impact. You have hands-on experience conducting user research, usability testing, and synthesizing findings into improvements. You're skilled in UX/UI, interaction design, rapid prototyping, accessibility, and visual design, with proficiency in Figma and enterprise design systems. Experience with data-heavy applications, particularly those featuring AI-powered tools or geospatial visualization, is essential. Ideally, you have background in GIS, geospatial data, or remote sensing. You thrive in undefined, ambiguous environments and excel at balancing usability with business needs while communicating solutions to both end-users and internal stakeholders. This is a full-time hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in either the Berlin or Haarlem office.
