PactFi is building secure, end-to-end operational infrastructure for private asset markets (PE, private credit, VC, real estate), which collectively manage nearly $10T in AUM and are projected to grow to $17T within five years. The company's web-based platform brings together all parties in complex private credit transactions—enabling efficient capital allocation, KYC completion, document sharing, and fund flow management—with bank-grade security and SOC 2 Type 2 attestation.
The core design challenge is transforming the product from a screen-first, fully deterministic model into an AI-native platform. You'll help define what this looks like from scratch: AI agents as new types of participants alongside human users, and AI as a new interaction modality for humans themselves. The platform must handle workflows tied to assets with 5–7 year lifecycles that resurface repeatedly, accommodate structural variation clients bring (new deal and asset structures the platform hasn't seen), and manage layered permissioning where participants have downstream stakeholders needing visibility into subsets of information.
In this role, you'll own one or two major product surfaces end-to-end—from problem framing through shipped, polished detail. You'll design and ship the platform's first real AI-native interaction pattern in an otherwise fully deterministic product, with no existing pattern to extend from. You'll design for dense, structured financial data at scale and multi-party, long-running workflows with complex permissions. Working closely with PM and engineers, you'll develop strategy and rationale behind what you build, not just execute specs. You'll contribute to a design system built for extensibility across evolving workflows and asset structures, and set an example in critique and day-to-day work for how design is done—the work itself is the signal.
You should have prior experience shipping software in product design roles, working closely with cross-functional teams on strategy and rationale, not just executing handed-off specs. You need real, hands-on experience designing AI-native interaction patterns with specific examples—not just general enthusiasm. You're comfortable designing dense, data-heavy interfaces beyond typical consumer layouts. Your portfolio demonstrates outstanding typography, interaction, and visual design craft, plus product sense and idea generation. You have comprehensive prototyping experience and excellent written, verbal, and storytelling skills.
