Halter is a climate-tech company revolutionizing sustainable grazing practices through solar-powered smart collars and software that enable farmers to manage cattle, pasture, and environmental outcomes in real time from a mobile app. The company is backed by tier-1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, and DCVC. You will lead the design vision and strategy for a significant area of Halter's farmer-facing product experience. This is a high-agency, high-impact role where you own the end-to-end design process—from early discovery and product definition through interaction design, prototyping, visual design, and launch. Key responsibilities include partnering closely with Product and Engineering to define what gets built and why; turning complex, ambiguous problem spaces into experiences that feel simple, intuitive, and trustworthy; working across multiple product surfaces and teams to balance individual experiences with broader system needs; and using customer insights from field work, data, and experimentation to inform your work. You'll raise the quality of design through strong craft, critique, collaboration, and leadership by example. You bring 5+ years of product design experience, including at least 2 years at a senior or lead level. You have exceptional visual and interaction design craft demonstrated in a strong portfolio of polished, high-quality product experiences. You possess a strong ownership mentality, real fluency with AI in both design process and product experience, and excellent systems thinking. You can lead complex, ambiguous projects from problem definition through shipped product, communicate compelling points of view, and influence stakeholders at multiple levels. The role is based in Halter's Auckland, New Zealand headquarters. Relocation and visa assistance are provided. The company offers competitive remuneration including salary, benefits, and an employee stock ownership plan, plus wellness support, generous parental leave (6 months primary, 4 weeks secondary), unlimited paid annual leave, and a $1000 annual self-development budget.
