Salary: USD 95,000 - 200,000 / annual
Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, WooCommerce, Jetpack, Tumblr, and Simplenote, is seeking a Senior Product Designer to help shape the future of web publishing and commerce. You'll design exceptional products from conception through optimization, working across all phases of the design lifecycle. Your responsibilities include iterating with prototypes at multiple fidelity levels informed by user research and business goals, communicating design decisions through written, verbal, and visual formats, and collaborating closely with engineers to ship high-quality experiences.
You'll contribute to both Automattic's consumer-facing products and the broader open-source design community. The role emphasizes modern design practices, including integrating AI tools, automation, and code-assisted workflows into your design process to accelerate exploration and iteration. You'll also mentor and coach teammates on these emerging practices.
The ideal candidate brings experience with consumer products, remote work, WordPress, e-commerce, or site editors. You should excel at identifying user needs, defining clear solutions, and delivering detailed designs. You're comfortable working at both low and high fidelity, choosing the most efficient approach for each challenge. Strong proficiency in Figma and familiarity with product development cycles is essential. You'll integrate feedback iteratively, validate solutions, and balance business strategy with technical constraints to create exceptional user experiences. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical, as you'll regularly present and document your work for a distributed global team.
